Château Lumière is one of the most fascinating abandoned places where I have been. The building was built in the early 1900’s by a wealthy industrialist in a neo-baroque style with many impressive handcrafted details. It has a big hallway in the center with openings all the way to the roof, enabling natural light to shine through (hence its nickname). The building was sold after the owner died in 1959 but proven to be too expensive to maintain for successive owners, who left it abandoned since the 1980’s.
Apart from being fascinated about the building, one can also be fascinated about the amount of people (photographers) who visit the place, which was a bit of a downside for me.
