Hôpital du Coiffeur is a former hospital located somewhere in the hills of the Alsace region in France. The hospital was originally built in 1889 as sanatorium (one of the oldest in France). Situated at an altitude of over 900 meters, the site offers clean and fresh air as well as protection from the wind.
In 1920, the sanatorium was converted into a medical center under the ownership of an insurance fund. In 1959 it was again converted into a sanatorium for respiratory- and physical therapy and “hospital release”. The sanatorium was positioned as a center for active geriatric orientation (a form of health care for elderly people) in 1990. Just like Clinique de Diable, the sanatorium became victim of the political merging of several different clinics and was finally closed in 2011.
